Whitstable is a seaside town in the English county of Kent that has been attracting visitors for centuries with its charm, beautiful scenery and cosy atmosphere. Today, the quaint little town is growing into something much more exciting thanks to several new developments and businesses setting up there. And if you’re thinking about moving somewhere new, there are plenty of good reasons why Whitstable might just be the perfect place for you...

You’ll get a gorgeous sea view

Whitstable is the perfect place to go and enjoy some fresh sea air. And even if you don’t fancy going for a walk along the beach, you can still get a beautiful view of the sea from lots of different places in the town, including the top of the White House Hotel.

There’s also lots of great wildlife around Whitstable. The coast is home to lots of different birds, fish and mammals, including seals and dolphins.

Sandsend Beach is a Blue Flag Beach, which means it’s been recognised for its high water quality and cleanliness. It’s also a great place for families, as it’s close to the town centre, so there are plenty of cafes and shops nearby.

Abbey Beach is quieter than Sandsend Beach and definitely a place for those who want somewhere to relax and unwind. It’s also a great place to go for a swim (it’s one of the warmest beaches in Kent).

Shepherdswell Sands Beach is a great place to go if you’re an avid surfer. It’s much quieter than the other beaches in Whitstable, so if you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go.

The local economy is on the up

Whitstable has grown steadily as a tourist destination over the past few years, and it’s getting more and more popular with both locals and visitors. It’s super convenient for train travel

Whitstable is around a 45-minute train journey from London, which makes it the perfect place for commuters. The train station is situated on the outskirts of town, so getting to and from the station and into town is easy, and there are regular trains running between London and the area, as well as a few other towns nearby, such as Canterbury and Herne Bay.

There are also a couple of direct trains from London to Whitstable during the week, which only take about half an hour, so you can get to work a lot quicker than you might think.

The food and drinks scene is constantly growing

If you’re a foodie, Whitstable is a great place to be. There are already a number of excellent restaurants and cafes in the town, and more are popping up all the time. There are even a few food festivals in the area, such as the FEASTival which is a celebration of the best produce in the area. You’ll also find the Whitstable Oyster Festival, which is a celebration of the town’s famous seafood delicacy.

If you love food as much as we do, you’ll also be pleased to know that Whitstable is home to the Whitstable Farmers’ Market, which takes place every Saturday. The market has plenty of great produce from local farmers, as well as food and drink from some of the best restaurants in the area. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat or do some grocery shopping.

Whitstable has a number of pubs that you can choose from. Some of the larger pubs in town are situated near the beach or at the bus stop and you can access them by walking down to St Marys Church or going on a bus. Others are located on nearby streets or close by public transport stations and you can get there from either Glyn Street or Abbey Street North. There are also some smaller bars and coffee shops that are located around Whitstable that you can visit if you’re looking for a change from your usual coffee shop fare.

It has a vibrant culture and heritage

Whitstable has a rich and vibrant history as an artistic hub, with some of the world’s most famous artists and writers having lived there at some point in their lives. There is lots of art to be found in the area, and there are a number of new art galleries popping up, as well as a new arts centre that is currently being built.

There are also a number of museums in the area, including the fascinating Crab and Winkle Museum, which is definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in the history of the town.
